We are currently looking for a qualified Database Administrator to join our team based out of our headquarters in Fairfax, VA. This individual should possess a BS degree in Computer Science or an MIS, or equivalent work experience. Typical tasks center on the physical installation, development, maintenance, and performance of the DBMS and include the following:

• Installing new DBMS versions and applying maintenance fixes supplied by the DBMS vendor
• Setting and tuning system parameters
• Applying in depth knowledge and experience with transactional databases to solve performance issues
• Ensuring appropriate storage for the DBMS
• Enabling the DBMS to work with storage devices and storage management software
• Using ETL tools to design mappings and perform extracts and imports of large datasets
• Writing database triggers and stored procedures
• Installing and using third-party DBA tools
• Perform data administration tasks such as archiving

Expectations:

• Ability to create database structures and code that comply with established guidelines and conventions for data naming and meta data documentation standards.
• Ability to install, maintain, monitor and tune database management systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Ability to create efficient SQL queries for core transactional system as well as reports.
